Employer-Assisted Housing

Employer-assisted housing is something of a new concept. Employers can build a relationship with one or more lenders who will assist their employees with obtaining home loans. An example of a employer-assisted housing program is when a certain employer has an onsite housing counselor that pre-screens employees. This pre-screening process may include obtaining a credit report to establish the employee's likelihood of loan approval. The housing counselor is typically trained and knows the requirements of the specific lender. Therefore, the counselor builds a relationship with the employee and helps guide them through the process of fixing any deficiencies that may be preventing them from qualifying for a home loan. Once an employee is deemed to be eligible according to the lender's basic requirements, the employee is referred to the lender directly to complete the final steps of the loan. Employer-assisted housing programs may offer other assistance and programs as well.
