Masonry

Masonry refers to any work that is done by a mason, who is a person who builds with any type of natural or artificial mineral materials such as stone, bricks, tile, or cinder blocks. This normally will include the mortar that is used to hold these building materials together. In real estate, masonry would include any part of a building that is made of any of these materials. The brickwork on a house or chimney would be classified as masonry. So, too, would stone construction, such as decorative stone siding. Masonry would also include retaining walls, garden walls, or other structures on the property which are built of stone or brick. When evaluating the condition of the masonry of a building, it is important to remember to look at the condition of the mortar that is holding the bricks or stones together.
