Seller reviewThis year it became obvious that it was no longer practical to have my aging mother live 9 hours away from us in Southern California. We finally talked her into moving by finding her a place in a senior complex 1/2 a mile away from us. I was relieved, except that I dreaded the thought of her having to deal with the piles of paperwork involved in the selling of her house and the buying of the new place. Our agent up here in Santa Cruz volunteered to use his network to find us an agent that would be willing to to take the time to work with my 81 year old mother. The first recommendation he came up with was Freda England. I talked with Freda on the phone. She was polite,knowledgeable, friendly, and was actually enthusiastic about the challenges. We arranged to meet the next time i was down at Moms in Redlands. She was right on time, Mom and I both liked her, and she had great ideas about what to do to the house to get it ready to sell. She also knew exactly who to recommend for different phases of the work. After we got the house ready she recommended listing at the high end of the comp scale, which we did. We got a decent offer right away, but Freda pointed out the the potential buyers were a stretched a little thin. She had her own lenders verify them, and then she wrote a very good counter that protected us. Then, while the buyers were negotiating a counter to that, another couple came in with a clean full price offer, which Freda advised us to take. Which we did! Which is when Freda's work really started! After spending 3 weeks getting moms house ready to sell, I had to get back home and start negotiations for the new place, and try to get caught up on my contracting business in the hectic spring rush. So Freda was left with the thankless job of getting piles and piles of paperwork to Mom, and patiently explaining each one to her, and making sure she signed in the right place. The really amazing thing was that half the paperwork was for the new place up here, and Freda took the time on several occasions to take them by and get them signed, even though she was in no way involved in that escrow! She did this just as a favor, for two people she barely knew! Being a building contractor, I have been involved in several escrows over the years, and this is far and away the best experience i have ever had with a realtor!!
