Personal Profile

My real estate career began in vacation management on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. In 2005, I began listing and selling property from Corolla to South Nags Head and on Roanoke Island where I live. My mission is to listen to your wants and needs and use my experience and professional knowledge to assist you in making decisions when buying or selling Outer Banks property. I believe that if I am honest, treat you with respect and set realistic expectations your real estate experience will be enjoyable. I have built my business by referrals and I am honored each time someone is willing to put their name with mine and say, "You will be working with a true professional." I look forward to helping you reach your goals!

I've bought or sold 6 different houses over the past 30 years. Colleen Shriver, without a doubt, was the best agent I've ever had. This was first time to do a 1031 like-kind exchange and we did the closing remotely, which could have been a special problem since I have no N.C. connections and Colleen had to help me through every step of the process. She was prompt to return phone calls, listened carefully to what we were looking for, and went well beyond the norm in working with inspectors, the closing attorneys, assisting with finding insurance agents, and home warranty providers, and others involved in the transaction. Even post-closing, she continued to be exceptionally helpful in the process of coordinating with us as new owners, the old owners who rented (held-over) for three weeks after closing, and transitioning the home to a rental property. If possible I'd like to give Colleen Shriver some grade above Excellent for timely communications and being accessible. Nothing is more frustrating that trying to finalize a transaction and not being able to get in touch with someone who is needed. Never had that problem with Colleen who was 100% prompt at returning calls and equally adept at understanding exactly what I wanted her to do or at explaining exactly what she needed me to do.

She was excellent in a tough market. Was always available. And answered my phone calls promptly.

Colleen is wonderful and very personable with great knowledge of the area. She always had a big smile on her face and a great attitude. If you are buying an investment property in the Outer Banks, Colleen is the right agent for you.

Colleen was referred by our son, who is a VA R/E atty. Colleen's status in the local realty community was a factor which our son stressed to us, as well. Colleen's Great! We thoroughly enjoyed working with her throughout the period our house was on the market. She's a super lady, and we consider her a good friend, as well as an outstanding agent. All of the characteristics above were rated highest. She was always accessible, and responded to our inquiries in a complete and expeditious manner. She is highly recommended for her knowledge, professionalism and ability to relate to people. There was not a lot of response in the period we marketed our house (about a year). We took an offer from the first buyers who made one. We lowered the price on the house twice and still took a hit--significantly less than we had hoped. We credit that to an inability to wait it out due to family medical issues; the slow market that has had little improvement from the crisis of 2008; and numerous other factors. Colleen did a great job of marketing the house, but you can't sell if there's no--or few--buyers, given the quantity of similar houses on the market.

Our connection to Colleen Shriver must have been preordained. Colleen was a close friend and business associate of Barbara Connery (nee Beveridge) who was our neighborhood baby sitter when we lived on Acacia Ave in Bethesda, MD in the mid 1960's. We reconnected with Barbara on the Outer Banks by pure chance after we built 733 CPC in Corolla, and we kept in touch thereafter. When we decided to try and sell our house in 2015, she was our first choice, but had just retired, so she introduced us to Colleen. We interviewed other seller's agents as well as Colleen, but there was no doubt about choosing Colleen - she was perfect in every way and very proactive. We gave her top marks in your survey, above, and she was perfect. We were all helped by a strange coincidence. Our house was being serviced by our electrician in mid Feb, and he called us to tell us about two parties that came to the house that day - a family that spent a lot of time in the house, and seemed impressed. There was also a buyer's agent who looked through the house very quickly and said that he was going to call his client right away. Within about two days we had two competing offers after months of low buyer interest. When informed of the competing offers, one made an offer at our (Colleen's recommendation) asking price, which we accepted. Colleen guided us through the contracting process, and facilitated completion of our new pool by a lackadaisical contractor, through to final closing, earlier this week. She made it happen very smoothly. We were truly blessed to have had Colleen as our Seller's Agent. Barrie and Carol McLeod
